Using Empty Canon Ink Tanks for Print Spot Retouching
« on: March 25, 2025, 03:30:00 pm »

I'm printing with a Canon Pro 4100 and occasionally I'll get a few white spots on my matte paper prints from tiny flecks of paper falling off or a piece of dust getting printed over and then falling off.

I've got some almost-empty 330ml ink tanks and was wondering if anyone has a good method of preserving the ink / using the ink for touching up the white specks.

Rotring or Staedler pens filled with the inks. But I only use MK and Light Grey in pens. Way easier to have good quality Aquarel pencils in a wide range of colors.

On the 8400, I use the tail end of a 000 brush to open the valve on the cart, then treat it like spotting ink.

I do feel the pull from a new set of Isographs, but will resist.

I have used spotting dyes from the old silver gelatin days successfully.
