Photoshop why can't I set the second info panel readout to Lab?

This is driving me nuts!  I cannot get the Info panel Photoshop to display Lab values whatever I try.  For instance I want to have the First Color Readout Panel to display as RGB with the Second Color Readout panel displaying Lab values.

As shown in the attached screenshot selecting Lab results in display of CMYK values only.  Selecting any of the other choices works as intended.

I am guessing that this is likely to be user error or I have missed the memo about this issue 

PS version 26.4.0.  OS Windows 11

Mac photoshop v24.75  - so probably some strange photoshop mistake...

Works as it should on this end too. What is the document color space, all documents?

Have tried with Documents colour spaces of ProPhoto RGB, sRGB and Adobe RGB.  All resulting in the same, Lab showing as a menu choice but when selected the panels (either first or second) indicates CMYK.  Only happens with trying to select Lab all other selections work OK and display as expected.

If I start with a Lab document then the info panels WILL display Lab values??

Tried trashing Preferences but that did not work.  Not a huge problem for me (more of an inconvenience,  LR is fine) bet Dan Margulis would be most upset if this is more than just a user finger problem with a particular Win 11 user

Just don't let Dan know you've tried ProPhoto RGB, or his head will explode. 
Did you try the flyout menu where you have shown in your screen capture, CMYK? It should work how you set it in the options, but you could try the flyout.

Tried loads of different combinations including flyout.  Strange behaviour,  when selecting Lab from the Info panel dialogue the menu shows selected but of course displays CMYK, but when you go back to the menu the Lab label is not a sticky and it now says CMYK.
I did edit last post before your reply to say that Lab documents behave OK.

Not at all sure what to make of this particularly as this is a new installation of Win 11 on a new PC.  First thoughts must go to user error, followed by the thought could this be a Win 11 issue breaking this particular part with this PS version?

Any difference if you configure when NO document is open?
It could be a Windows bug. Works on my Macs.

Just tried fresh open PS no open documents.  Info panel behaves the same way i.e. cannot select Lab!

I will have a look at my old PC think it was still Win 11 to see if this persists later

There could be a bug here, even on my Mac.
IF I pick Lab in the options, I end up with CMYK, which IS a bug. I can, however, set it to Lab in the flyout, and that works. Until I relanuch PS and it isn't sticky which IS a bug. Adobe Photoshop Version: 26.4.0 20250215.r.171 3bf61d7  arm64
Now I think Adobe must be aware of this. I have a 'beta', and it works as it should; it's sticky, and I can select from flyout or options. So hopefully the next release will work as you expect.

Andrew, thanks for checking this out even though we are on different OS.  Sounds likely to be an application bug rather than this old bugger 

From your experience with the Beta version sounds like it is fixed and waiting for the next release.  I will now not loose any sleep over it as it looks like it is not an issue that I can resolve in any way

It looks like a bug in 26.4.x I had 26.3 and it worked fine, then I just updated to 26.4.1 (recently released) and now it has the issue mentioned in this thread.

Windows 11 btw.
