Help from German friends please.

My wife went to Germany for the Xmas Markets. Five towns in 12 days. She came back with 1300 images for me to process. Americans love the "old world" architecture because we don't have any. But I'm running the wheels off my Remove tool, taking out all the ugly antennas. Hundreds of them. I got curious, what are these? They look like something from the 50's and 60's, before cable and satellite. We travel in Italy a lot, and I don't remember seeing these there. Satellite dishes sure, but not this old tech.

So what tech is that?

Have you really not seen a TV aerial before ?
Nothing 'old' about it, we still still get our TV service (and radio) from an aerial on the roof here in the UK.

Those are UHF antennas with reflectors to receive thought control messages.
The one in the chimney is a rain shield on a vent pipe

I tried amazon de, what kind of Tv antennas they sell now, and it looks like it is digital signals nowadays. They still look kinda like that. The new ones have 5G filter for some reason. There are also much smaller antennas that look like a box so obviously they have not changed over to those yet on the photos. Just search tv antenne on amazon dot de

How old are you? Antennas are still popular today for the cord cutters and for those of us that want our small town broadcasting stations. We are an hour west of Philly and get all the Philadelphia stations on Hulu.
The antenna however gets Reading, Lancaster, Wilmington, and Harrisburg at no cost. We have all the new technology available and still have our rototenna.
(For you youngsters that is an antenna mounted with a motor to turn the antenna in any direction to fine tune the signal.)
The HD from the antenna signal beats streaming, cable and Directv, it is that sharp.

WOW! I am 88 and I do remember the "Tena-Rotor". We retired to a barrier island in South Jersey, and the Cable Company holds us hostage, as I thought there was no other option. Comcast (our provider) provides us land line phone, Internet, and Cable TV. I like football, golf, etc, so we have a few "Premium Stations", including Prime, Netflix, etc, etc. Our monthly cable bill is $337. I kid you not. We have been married 66 years, and our cable bill is about 5 times what our first monthly home mortgage payment was!
