Epson SC P7000... dead head?
« on: November 30, 2024, 11:49:39 am »

I have an Epson SC P7000 with a problem. I do a nozzle check and the LK channel is missing chunks of nozzles. After cleaning, the nozzle check is fine, but when I print a 17x22, the LK nozzles drop out about midway through the print. A subsequent nozzle check shows the missing chunks of nozzles. Cleaning fixes the next nozzle check, but then next print has the nozzles drop out again. It's as if the nozzles get tired during a large print.

I did a couple of normal cleanings yesterday, let it sit over night, and did a heavy cleaning today... no change, same behavior...lather, rinse, repeat.  This is only on the LK.

So it's possible the LK ink/cart is bad, the LK line has arteriosclerosis, or that part of the head is bad.

Any suggestions for further diagnosis or intervention would be appreciated. The printer is nearly 8 years old and I don't see dumping several grand into it at this point.
