Strange outcome Lightroom export

I am used to develop in LR and then export to tiff 16bitt prophoto files.

now i have a 128.000 asa file underexposed...  i used LR detail and NR  and then it looks like photo A on my screen.

then i export it and it looks like photo B in photoshop.

the difference is clear. and disturbing.


( B is also the outcome if i change the export to jpef or sRGB)

This may be related to the monitor profile. Are you using a custom profile or a factory provided one?
Are those black areas uniform or do they show small variations in values when you hover over them? Does the image look fine in the Library module?

Very high ISO and underexposure (which is equivalent to even higher ISO) brings a few issues. What if you do a slight levels adjustment in the blacks in PS?

whatever the cause - it is remarkable LR and Photoshop display the image so different;

i have an Eizo with hardware calibration - so no fuzz with a software profile.
Also Fast  Raw Viewer sees the file as bad as photoshop does... Photohop is right.

I took a closer look and this I think i have the cause:
LR does not display the image properly after applying  LR Noise reduction (Ai and enhanced detail)

I work like this:
1 I put my Nikon RAW in LR;
2 then i apply LR noise reduction based on the iso
3 then i start enhancing the new DNG-image.

If i reverse step 2 and 3  and enhance the NEF first ; it is immediately clear that i have a very bad image ( photo C)
then if i apply adobe NR - the blacks look good ( but are not)  ( photo D)
This same DNG looks like this in Fast Raw Viewer ( photo E)

I thought Abobe instructed me to do NR first..before enhancing. but maybe i am mistaken.
anyway- the image looks wrong.

and then photoshop:

when i open this DNG in photohop ( version 2023 or 2024)
the raw converter shows it like this: photo F
after opening it shows it like this : photo G

something is clearly wrong here.

Display: make sure you are NOT making a V4 spec profile (only use V2).
Disable GPU in both products: any difference?

Even hardware profiles, especially LUT with too low black point, sometimes have this issue. For some reason, there are differences in the way the deepest blacks are rendered in LR vs PS (I don't have an explanation).

In this particular case, it may even be a bug of the preview not being updated correctly after NR, as your results depend on the order of operations.
