So more gimmicky fluff, but real practical things of value like cropping at 100% view or being able to set out and print a book in a standard format like A4 don't get any attention....again :-(

There is nothing gimmicky in Generative Remove since, outside of Photoshop, it's completely nondestructive and a very necessary advancement for *some* of us using Lightroom Classic/ACR.
There is nothing gimmicky for Sony users who wish to apply Sony tethering support!
If you have an issue with book printing, maybe you should speak to Blurb.

Why do we have to be stuck with Blurb ? What's so wrong about being able to use other suppliers or DIY with the book kits easily available ?
It's been asked for since the book module was first introduced.

Try making an A4 landscape book ? you can't. You can only specify Blurb sizes even as PDFs and JPGs.

Thank you for confirming to your readers your inability to follow the facts or how to use the product to produce an A4 book for suppliers who can print such a book. In the USA we have a saying: "one core belief is that if you're complaining about something for more than three minutes, two minutes ago you should have done something about it."

I find Generative Remove incredibly useful. I'm not looking to create fantastical photographs: I'm working on a series, photographing historical buildings in my city. Being able to easily retouch out parking signs and other small visual distractions is really wonderful.

However, as with many functions in Lightroom where you're moving/replacing pixels, the implementation in Lightroom is hobbled/awkward compared to the implementation of the same function in Photoshop. I've always found the clone/healing tools in Lightroom to be painful to use compared to Photoshop but the ability to stay in RAW in LR is sometimes worth it.

I've only been experimenting with "Generative Remove" for a couple of days, but my initial reaction is that what makes this such a remarkable tool is that it can be used within a raw workflow.  As with all image-manipulation functions based on machine learning, its capabilities are likely to improve with continued training (additional image samples), and if you can get the results you want without rendering the image for a round-trip to Photoshop, taking advantage of future enhancements becomes an essentially trivial exercise.

With OSX Sonoma / Sequia you need a computer less than 6 years old - imac even 5 years...
Probably this all has to do with the upcoming ( invasion ) of AI in the recent years.
