Not sure where you are but in the US it is available today (see B+H for example).  In stock as well rather than immediately on back order.

Well it was indeed in the shops one day later than my post,
but it was not in the shops in 2023 and of course that was the idea:
how can you call a camera 'best of 2023' if no one could buy it in 2023...or even try it?

this magic global shutter: it that it?

Nikon and Sony's A1 already solved 95% of the rolling shutter problems with their shorter than 1/200s global shutter...
It has less video capabilities than the Nikons and less dynamic range... takes cards that are slower (and more expensive than the Type B), so needs an external harddisk with some heavy video capabilities
It does a max of 15fps raw with non Sony lenses en is only 24MP
and it costs about 2000$ more than a z8...
