Alternate Center Filter For SK 43mm
« on: January 11, 2024, 02:56:15 pm »

So I finally did it; I harpooned me white whale this week and will have the beast in hand tomorrow.  That of course being the Schneider Digitar 43mm.

Unfortunately I was not able to get the center filter and I have read that is even harder to find.  (If anyone has one they are willing to part with, I would pay top dollar for it.)

So I am thinking about getting the center filter for the SK 47mm Digitar, removing the glass and having SK Grimes machine a ring that will allow me to mount it to the 43mm.  Does this sound doable?  Should I be looking at other possible center filters I can easily find?

I realize it will not be a perfect match, but I am just looking for options here.

I use center filters on my 24 and 35 but don't really need one on my 58 lens. I would test the lens first before investing. I don't know how the 43 looks but worse case you can correct the falloff in post.

I use the RODENSTOCK E67 CENTRE FILTER for APO-SIRONAR 35-55, with a step up ring.
The Schneider CFs produce internal stray light spots in backlight situations,
if you shoot in direction of a bright window.

Ben
