Sierra Nevada - first light of dawn
« on: November 22, 2023, 04:00:32 pm »

On our way up to the Patriarch Grove - you know, still following along in the footsteps of Michael - and we stopped at this lookout point, to watch the very first light of dawn, light up the distant mountains with a beautiful glow.

What an amazing location.

I could hardly breath of course at this altitude (11,000 feet?) as we live right by the sea and had only been over in the States, maybe 12 hours by this point. So getting my old bones out to this view point with my gear, certainly had me puffing and panting I can tell you  ;D

Thanks Dave  ;)

And I am reliably told, that I fibbed a bit on the amount of time we had actually been in America, as this wasn't the first morning we were there as I thought, but the second. But anyway, we had not been in the country for long, before finding ourselves up at this ridiculous height, gawping at the scenery.

As Iceland has its winter pink light I like to think the American West has this

Thanks everyone  ;)

We both enjoyed this photo holiday touring around the South West of America so much, that we both  find ourselves repeating the line often said by Michael in the Lula video journals "we have to go back".

Don't know when though, but we will.

Stunning light and a stunning location. Envious here in NewZealand, second day in as well. Excellent work indeed.

Gorgeous! Have youthought about a bit of crop at the top and bottom to get more of a panaorama look?

Yes Peter I did, but I really like the colour of the sky, as well as the darkness of the foreground. So even though I did play around with the cropping tool for a little while, before I eventually decided, you know what, I am going to leave it as it is.

Thanks for the suggestion though and the very positive comments.
