Mylar (polyester) photo sleeves source?
« on: October 29, 2023, 11:59:42 am »

I'm struggling to find 16x20" mylar sleeves available at an ok price.
Does anyone have a supplier to recommend?

thanks!

We buy all sizes from Clear Bags by the hundreds, good pricing.
Exact size or slightly oversize like shown to fit your print comfortably.

Thanks Dan, but are these Mylar (polyester) or something else, like polyethylene?
the fact that they simply call them 'crystal clear', and do not name the material makes me a bit suspicious.

(hope I'm wrong though - great value!)

From the manufacturer.

Clear plastic bags are created with low-density polyethylene and polypropylene, which are transparent polymers. Like almost all other plastic bags, these bags' primary use is to contain and shield goods of all shapes and sizes from the elements, such as dust and moisture.

I get more or less the same bags from Matboard Plus. They do bundles for shows that include front + back mats and the plastic bags as well that I think are great value if you don't want to cut your own front mats.

I have not ordered from ClearBags, but this is what they say about the premium bags:

Premium Bags
Premium flap seal bags made by ClearBags are made with our signature crystal clear PP material with an adhesive strip but in a 2 mil thickness to provide more durability and strength to your packaging.

Thicker, 2 mil, material than our standard Flap Bags
Will not easily rip, tear, wrinkle or fog
Adhesive makes it easy to seal and protect the contents of the bag
Acid free and Archival
