First Snow
« on: October 03, 2023, 01:07:09 pm »

I went out to get some early snow/seasonal confusion photos last night and again this morning (gotta get it while it's good).

Last night

This morning. I wanted a better shot of the scene I photographed on Saturday morning. I prefer it with clouds and snow! This brief moment of light was a big help too.

The last two I find to be particularly good. Maybe it's their simplicity and mood?

The third one is a winner. Well done!

+1 seems the mountain is on fire... colors of  the trees walk into the mountain...
where is this? I know you have told it before, but..

At the moment in Amsterdam the trees are here still very green ; temperatures are well above normal.

Thanks! I like those two as well.

Thanks! At that moment the clouds were maybe going to open up and bathe the mountains in light. I was hoping they would but this was as close to that as it ended up getting. But the delicate color may have worked out better than if the full light blast had come through. I'll never know...

Thanks! This is in Gunnison County, Colorado at an elevation of about 9000'. Leaves are starting to fall now and one wind event can make them all disappear this time of year so I've been trying to get as much as I can while it lasts.

I really love the first snow, especially when it's just a dusting and when it coexists with fall colors.
Well done!

The last one for me,... love the feeling of distance, and the way the light captured adds.

Me too! Even though it may haunt me later in the winter as a avalanche risk (buried persistent weak layers). It's so beautiful when combined with fall colors

The last one for me,... love the feeling of distance, and the way the light captured adds.

Thanks! I put the most effort into that one with some hiking and then waiting for that little burst of light. I'm just happy the light eventually broke through, although it was very brief.

FOR ME IT IS THE THIRD AND FOURTH IMAGES.

THANK YOU! :)

All nice but the last one definitely stands above the others, very nice!

Matt,

You nor others will "never" see this scene (the last one) .  Thanks for your instincts, staying put, and your experience to get this one frozen.

It is very tough to be at the right place and the right time,...  glad your photography equipment was also ready to go.

thanks

Thanks! Hardest part for me is getting out of bed. I was being serenaded by bugling elk while I waited for the light so it wasn't so bad.

All nice but the last one definitely stands above the others, very nice!

Thank you!
