The luna moth (Actias luna), also called the American Moon Moth, is a large moth that I occasionally see in and around the Baltimore area in the summer. Its wingspan is ca. 7 inches. The coloration is a beautiful lime-green with bluish tinge, a white body, and a crimson band on the leading edge of the wing. Spectacular!
Backstory: I recently found this photograph in a collection of CDs that I had saved and forgotten. It was taken in 2005 with a Sony DSC F707, the first DSLR I owned. The original image was saved as a jpeg. I don't think the F707 had the capability of RAW format storage, but it may just be that I hadn't realized the benefits of saving in that format at that stage in my photographic journey. No matter. I had a lot of fun processing the image, and think the final result was worth the effort. I trust you will find the photo and this gorgeous moth worth a few moments of viewing.
C&C welcomed.
