My local beach
« on: August 12, 2023, 02:46:47 pm »

My local beach, where I go at least once a week and if I am being totally honest, probably more than that. So this is an area I have photographed, tens of thousands of times over the 12 years we have lived here. Yet it can still throw up surprises for me and keep me coming back for more.  ;)

Yes, serene but the movement of the clouds makes it even better.

Thanks everyone, glad you like it  :D

As soon as we arrived at the beach, I jumped out of the car to grab the shot shown above, just before the incoming tide burst through the pebbly bank in the mid-ground and which I knew would disturb the reflection, as well as ruin this composition. I then went back to car for a sandwich and a cuppa feeling very chuffed with myself. Then and a little while later and not really expecting anything more, I ended up jumping out of the car for a second time and rushing down to the other side of the beach, to grab this shot of a surprise sunset, that only a few minutes earlier, looked like it had no chance of happening, then it did.

What a lovely evening - just me the missus and a large flask of tea  ;D

The curve of the shoreline is nicely complemented by the sky and its reflection. Well done.

This one is also excellent with the sun kissing the peaks...

Dave, not sure how you managed to finish that tea,... jump down and setup to catch this wonderful evening light. Glad you did.

Both are very nice, the second, my favourite.

Thanks again everyone  :) :D ;D

I know, isn't this typical and shows both the vagaries and the pleasure of landscape photography.

You know I have gone to numerous places over the years intending to take a specific type of shot and end up failing miserably. Then there are occasions like this, where I have gone somewhere with no particular shot in mind and not even expecting to get anything worthwhile and then I get two.

Cheers guys.

Dave,  humbly I've experienced the same feeling,... but you know, still glad you dropped everything,  hoping your instincts about what may or not unfold are treasured  ,...but indeed they are.  Even if the spot was visited many times over,...

love that light

Thanks again  ;D

And yes Leszek, to be lucky enough to get a new composition, from an old, regularly visited and photographed scene, never mind two. Really was the icing on the cake for me  ;)
