LrC 12.4 Denoise Issue
« on: July 05, 2023, 07:25:09 pm »

LrC 12.4 on W10 fully updated. Nvidia Quadro K620 2GB

When attempting to use Denoise, the enhanced preview is not rendered - simply grey. The before enhancement image is rendered and clicking on the image control will toggle back to the before image, but the enhanced image preview is never rendered.

Clicking on the [ Enhance ] button at this point will result in an Enhance Errors dialog: Denoise was not applied - There was an unknown error. (1) - followed by the filename.

Hardware GPU is turned off in this scenario. With the GPU enabled it is a very similar error but states a GPU error has occurred. Since this occurs without the GPU I'm thinking the GPU error is a ruse or byproduct of the issue, it certainly occurs without the GPU.

I am processing Fuji X-T2 RAW (RAF) files.

Update: After reading through Eric Chan's blog, it looks like my GPU is inadequate. Suggests 8GB of memory and later processor.

This is similar to the problems I had using the Quadro P2000 (6GB).  I updated my GPU to an RTX 3060 and a 50/60mp file denoises in 33/38 seconds.  I updated a while ago, I might choose something a little better now.

I have been pulling data from a variety of Nvidia GPU's.  Not copious but this might help in a decision if you are on a desktop and plan to upgrade.  They are ordered by series and then # of Tensor cores.
