Z printers with dye ink?

Is it possible to use dye ink in Z printers?

I´d say generally not. The printheads function is relying on chemical parameters that need to fit and there are good reasons for pigment-based ink.
Maybe it would help to describe your intention?

I stopped not because of any compatibility, but because the dye setup I used showed visible fade after only 3 years of display (despite being rated by some at close to 100 years of display life).

There are a lot of folks using dye sub inks in Epson printers with specialized rip software right now. Never heard of anyone putting dyes in thermal printers but it’s not out of the question. I guess the deal is how much money you want to spend on software … Although the Z printers do use their own linearizing and icc profiling internally. That might fail because the parameters written in for what it’s expecting from the pigments, but I don’t know.

I would contact these guys. If anyone knows it would be them.
