Kayak race
« on: June 05, 2023, 11:40:40 am »

Some sports to mix things up a bit. I wouldn't really consider myself a sports shooter except for when the event is out in nature. Plus add in some insanity and high level performances and I just can't resist.
This is a downriver kayak race on Oh Be Joyful creek near Crested Butte. Pretty exciting to watch!
I've been a whitewater kayaker before but never close to this level. I think my sense of self preservation is too strong to do this kind of thing.

You have caught the action in the first shot perfectly.

Probably look really good on the front of a kayaking magazine.

Both are really stunning! I like the first one best but the expression on the face of the kayaker (2 image) is also interesting.
Well done.

Thanks! I'm happy with them too. I put up a big gallery for the racers but sales are slow. Kayakers are generally known to be broke and cheap. But it was fun to shoot and watch if nothing else. Kayaking magazines seem to have mostly gone away these days but I think there may still be one or two I could look into submitting to.

Nice shots! Contemplated going into some whitewater rafting but nowhere close to this level.

As for photos you might be better served if you try the companies making those kayaks, Jackson Kayak (probably Nirvana) in the first and Dagger (probably Rewind) in the second.
