C1 and Topaz Photo AI?
« on: April 14, 2023, 12:45:23 pm »

Has anyone here gained any experience using C1 and Photo AI together?

I'm particularly interested in whether sending an adjusted RAW file from C1 to Photo AI loses anything on the way. I especially don't want Photo AI re-demosaicing my Fujifilm RAW files.

Perform all desired edits in C1 and then export a TIF file from C1 to Photo AI. Do not apply noise reduction in C1 and select sharpening to none in the export dialogue.

If you send a raw file to Photo AI, it will demosaice it

Thanks! I do not want Photo AI to demosaic my RAW files (Capture One does a fine job on X-Trans), so I'll be sure not to send it a RAW file.

I suppose that if I'd like to add any creative sharpening, I'd do that to the returned .tiff file?

Yes, that would be the preferred way. It is best to send an image to Photo AI without any sharpening at all (The same applies to Sharpen  AI).
