The scene evokes an ominous, primordial feeling.

I wonder why you have rendered it as a relatively high key scene. I tried bringing down the overall luminosity via Curves and to me the scene looked even better.

Hi Rajan,

Very interesting that you find the foto ominous with a primordial feeling. Much of SE Louisiana can look like that. And I appreciate your taking the time to edit it to something you find more pleasing.

My version to me seems sort of ethereal in mood and perhaps a little Japanese in style. This was the lightest of three bracketed images. And altho I usually find the middle image the preferred one, this time I liked how the muted colors and soft winter light, there was light mist, too, could be seen in this high key version. One of the goals I have in photographing these wetlands is to show how varied they can be.

Please know how valuable and enjoyable it is to have these discussions on LuLa. I'm very grateful for it !

I didn't have any ominous feeling about this shot. The high key seemed a bit strange but I like it although I initially thought you were trying to save the sky (from over-exposure). Yes, the muted colors are appeasing and the reference to Japanese style is appropriate.

Took this 7 years ago and didn't like it then. But in this lighter version it's a lot better.
