« on: February 01, 2023, 03:32:42 am »

Anyone here own one ? or seen discussion on them anywhere else you could point to ?

Wondering how possible a DIY battery change is.

Had one of the original ones back in the '80s but it used AA's if I remember right. I can't imagine it would be that hard to make something else yourself.
Now that 70mm beast and its battery, that could be an issue.

Sadly nothing as simple as AAs. Built in rechargeables (presumably NiCads) and no provision for external power. No easy way of getting at whatever they are, the base which is relatively easy to remove just reveals a lot very small and delicate looking bits with no obvious path for further disassembly.

I've tried emailing the UK distributor, but no reply yet :-(

Ask directly for help:
I will if I can't find anyone to help in the UK.
A combination of brexit and our terrible exchange rate at the moment, makes sending kit off to CH for repair seem like it might be an unaffordable luxury :-(

Although it's rather tempting to see if they could repair it if I drop it off in person, have short break then collect it on return. Their premises look interesting; https://www.google.com/maps/place/Frauenfelderstrasse+26,+8512+Thundorf,+Switzerland/@47.5502234,8.9874273,3a,86.6y,147.37h,94.19t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1skRM3MrBZRobrWKAUinc9XQ!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DkRM3MrBZRobrWKAUinc9XQ%26cb_client%3Dsearch.gws-prod.gps%26w%3D360%26h%3D120%26yaw%3D235.92389%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192!4m5!3m4!1s0x479a92b55e1af03b:0x94490ac7e44de8cc!8m2!3d47.5500887!4d8.9871616

I'm sure they can help. It's a very small and friendly company here in Switzerland.
Apropos brexit, Switzerland was never part of the EU, the people of Seitz know how to handle VAT for repair and all the paperwork etc.

Several years ago, I published here a review of Seitz Roundshot VR Drive.
https://luminous-landscape.com/seitz-roundshot-vr-drive-ii-review/

Before, I used both the Roundshot 35/35 and the larger Roundshot Super 35 and 220 cameras. They are all high-quality and high-precision cameras still unmatched for certain applications where you need speed and continuous exposures.
