Help with Camera profiling with Argyllcms and custom inkjet target

Ive been trying to make custom camera profile using argyllcms. I've been following these 2 guides.

I'm using argyll to generate the target instead of dcamprof just to simplify the workflow. I played with the arguments until the target 'looks good'. I printed the target out on Red River Baryta Fiber 300 on my ipf8400 using the adobe color print utility. I'm trying to profile my Nikon D610 using a high CRI LED video light as the light source.

Generate target patches and .ti1
targen -v -d3 -G -e4 -B1 -g10 -s8 -f462 -m7 -Q

Generate .tif and .cht
printtarg -v -S -ii1 -r -T 600 -C -p Letter

Photograph target and flat field

Read chart with i1pro to get spectral power distributions
chartread -v -H target

Convert spec to cie
spec2cie -v target.ti3 target.cie

Open raw file in raw therapy, wb off paper white, apply flat field shot, loosely crop target and rotate, export using 'save reference image' in color management tab with wb applied. I took Several shots from +0 to +3, and chose the brightest one.

Read values from raw.tif
scanin -v -p -dipn raw.tif target.cht target.cie

Generate .icc profile
colprof -v -am -u -D"D610_matrix.icc" -O"D610_matrix.icc" raw
colprof -v -ax -u -ql -bn -D"D610_XYZcLUT.icc" -O"D610_D610_XYZcLUT.icc" raw

The matrix based profile is super washed out and the cLUT profile isn't even close. The errors, white and black point of the profile are also off. I've uploaded all the files in the drive folder below.

I think you would be much better off profiling the camera with a standard like a Color Passport. Otherwise you are just chasing your tail.

Custom targets have proven valuable when the media involved is different to that used on a standard chart. This tends to work better for scanners than cameras though.

A resulting profile cannot profile what isn't on the target itself; camera or otherwise. The Passport (a Macbeth) is fine for some kinds of profiles, not others.
If the idea is a profile to shoot something off the inkjet itself, there are reasons to make a target from that output. Just as having a transparency profile of Velvia is best made from Velvia not say Ekatachrome. Even if both had the same number of color patches.

I'm trying to make a better camera profile for art repro work. I have made a basic matrix based target using a CC passport, but has left some color accuracy to be desired, especially contrast wise. I understand that 3d cLUTs are exposure dependent, by goal was photograph the custom target and make a new cLUT for every capture I take. I'm just not sure why it isn't working.

Just beg, borrow or hire a better camera. Hasselblad comes with Reproduction Mode and Scene calibration in Phocus, but the colour is great straight out of the box.
