Antique Pipe Wrench
« on: December 11, 2022, 10:41:29 am »

I acquired a few tools passed down from my father and grandfather, and one of them is this small pipe wrench. Its label reads "Stillson's Wrench, Pat Aug 1882, Walworth MFG, CO." I've never used it and it has acquired a patina of rust and dust over the years it has sat in my toolbox. I suppose one of these days I'll try to clean it up and remove the rust, but right now it was just begging to be photographed. So, here it is, shot in low key lighting.

Please feel free to post your comments and suggestions, and thank you for viewing my photograph.

Looks great! I bet it has potential in color too with that patina.

Thanks, Matt. I had envisaged this wrench as a black and white long before I setup to photograph the tool, so I came at it with that sole intent. As I suppose we all do, I always work up my raw files to bring out the best color I can before moving over to black and white processing. So, here's a color version, with the caveat that it is an intermediate in obtaining the B/W image. I would normally spend more time processing it for color to finalize it, but I thought you might enjoy seeing this version. Again, thanks for your kind words.
