Capture One 23 slow on latest Windows Surface Pro 9
« on: November 28, 2022, 10:09:44 pm »

Hi - installed C1 Pro 16 ('23') on my new Surface Pro 9 (i7/16gb/512) for location tethering, and its slow - clearly slower than my old Surface Pro 4 running 14/ v21. Anyone know what's up with this ? Its borderline unusable as is.

I did a brief search and found others complaining about capture one 22 upgrade making things really slow on their existing windows workstations.
Any thoughts on this, suggestions? Is it a known issue?

One reply mentions Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime (which C1 installs now) as the potential cause, but no idea if that's true or not.

Thanks

I'm not surprised. I use it on my Dell XPS 15 and on my last shoot I had to abandon using it because it was so slow and couldn't keep up with my shooting speed. If you aren't in love with C1 and use it to process everything, try Smart Shooter 4 (get it through Tether Tools). It's pretty basic, has some funky things you need to get used to for naming files, but is almost instantaneous when it comes to displaying images from my Canon R5.
