More high country fall - getting it while it lasts
« on: October 03, 2022, 11:51:57 am »

We had a stormy weekend that I know made the peaks beautiful and snowy but it has been hard to get a view of them the past couple of days. I'm hoping to catch some more iconic perspectives with snow and changing leaves before they are gone. It could all blow away any day now but I'm hoping the leaves hang around a little longer.
Here are a couple from a a couple of evenings ago up the road near Crested Butte.

Mt. Gothic

The town of Mount Crested Butte

...and one from yesterday. I went out twice yesterday but everything I was hoping to shoot was socked in and not even visible.
But this patch of Aspens next to the parking lot was looking great in the soft wet evening light.

Aspens is a wonderful shot with those vibrant colors…  I also like the first one (Mount Gothic) with the lingering clouds. Crested Butte at night is like oasis of urban life.
It's another great set, bravo.

Thank you both! We are having a good fall here this year.

Yes indeed. I like them all but I love the intensity of the yellow aspens in the third.

Thanks David. I like that too. It was after sunset so it was soft diffused light and everything was wet from a day of rain. It was also perfectly still so I could shoot at ISO 100 for over 5s and get no movement in the scene.
