The Old Gods
« on: August 24, 2022, 01:38:43 pm »

David Eckels has posted an image of a face in the stone as OP in the thread Inferno.  There may have been other similar in the past.  I was on the island of Eigg in the Inner Hebrides in Scotland (Dave's territory), and in a narrow re-entrant in a cliff at the back of a beach came across the attached.  I can find 4 faces, but there may be more. One can imagine in early times, when that island would have been much more isolated, that minds would have turned to the idea that there were old watchers or even gods keeping guard.  In rocks around the world I suspect there are many examples of which isolated communities may have been in awe.
