Really tight lens

I just got a Sony 24-70 GM2 and it is a really tight fit on my a7r3 and a sort of tight fit on my r2. Is this potentially damaging or might it loosen up with use? Someone suggested that it's probably the weatherproofing seal and it would loosen up over time.
