Canon Pro-1000 Firmware versions
« on: August 21, 2022, 03:29:08 am »

I had this Pro-1000 sitting for some time as I was not able to work in the studio for a while. But now that I am back in and working with the printers, I was wondering, if I have any real reason to upgrade the frimware from 2.050, which is pretty old.

I dont care about larger panoramas at this time, and I am testing with Matte paper and seeing if it uses more CO, and so far, I think not on my machine, and this maybe something after a firmware update vs how the original printer shipped(?). I can do a specific test if there is one to test.

I am thinking this as I printed a few glossies that I noticed a little CO was used. Now printing a few on matte (either of these are 13x19" sizes), and I dont have any CO used.

Also, I am wondering if there is a site that has saved the different version firmware to download.
I am not one to update to latest and greatest on electronic devices that are working. Not that I have tested many things on this, just scratched the surface really.

Thanks!

Go to the official Canon website in your locale and you will find all you need there.

Does you locale list all the versions?

Alternatively give Canon's support a call.  They are usually very helpful.

If it were me I would upgrade the firmware to the latest version anyway.  Sometimes there are hidden bug fixes.

CO ‘ink’ is “Chroma Optimizer” although the Canon websites seem to talk about it as if it is a gloss enhancer.

Take a look at this thread:
Canon Pro 1000 chroma optimizer excessive usage

There is also reference to it in this review and also some information about Firmware versions:

Ya, While Auto is nice as a default, they really need to make the option to turn this off. This is supposed to be a Pro printer. We can decide this.
