Twists and Turns
« on: August 10, 2022, 03:27:46 pm »

There is a very old, dead juniper tree that I have periodically been walking by for the last several years. It always catches my eye and my interest. I've made photographs on several occasions, but none of them gave me the feeling that I have when I look at that tree. Now I think this latest one may finally come close.

I'm sure there's something there for the ribald imagination.

Never easy but this is very fine tree portrait. You conveyed the twits and turns nature of this venerable tree perfectly!

Excellent shot Arlen.

Not easy shooting gnarly tree details. Because in my experience, what often looks really amazing or dramatic to the eye, never seems to look quite so good in the final image. But you nailed here  ;)

Thank you, Dave. And you are exactly right about the difficulty with those gnarly tree details.

By the way, you may have missed it, but Slobodan recently posted a message here about a whole page in Digital Camera magazine being devoted to your photography. Congratulations!  https://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=141252.0

Thanks Arlen and yes I did miss this, although Slobodan did email me about my shot in the mag so I could buy a copy - so thanks again Slobodan, because otherwise I would not have known they had published it. But I avoid the coffee corner nowadays, because of the high pitched screaming nature of the politics (as it was when I last ventured in there) and which always seemed to draw out the worst in me.
