Canon Pixma Pro 9000 print drivers for silicon Mac
« on: July 28, 2022, 09:38:11 pm »

Hi:  Still running a very old but capable Canon Pixma Pro 9000.  Does anyone make a print driver to function with the new Silicon Macbook Pro 14, running Monterey?  I've had zero luck, including a 45min. call with a canon rep. Tried Apple's site, tried Canon's site.

I keep an old Windows PC running to drive the same printer.  As far as I know there is no way to use the 9000 on a current generation Mac.

Yeah, it is somewhat irritating.  I have an older (Intel), Macbook Air that works just fine for rudimentary printing, but that's about it.  Not good for high end color profile printing thru Photoshop or C1Pro.  I just wonder if there are ANY printers available (higher end with multiple color cartridges) that I can hard wire (USB-C?) to my Silicon MBPro?  I don't want a printer that is wireless data transfer only.

IF anyone has any thoughts, I'd be ok with investing in a newer-technology inkjet; Canon or Epson.

The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 supports Ethernet (and wireless).  Pigment printer, 10 inks.  A3+.

The Canon PRO-200 supports USB and Ethernet (and wireless).  Dye printer, 8 inks.  A3+.

Thank you Simon:  I took a look at these 2 printers.  Very formidable.   I am also going to take a look at the Epson line, which I had eons ago before I switched to the 9000.  I'm not selling my prints for archival use, so I think I'd probably go with the lower cost Canon option, when it comes down to making a decision.
