Yes, this image does have the characteristic being sensuous. But to me it is about noble strength, tenacity and survival in the face of the merciless winds of change.

Indeed. Some of the big old junipers like this one have been scratching a living out of the dry high desert for a millennium or longer. The oldest one so far documented, a couple of miles from this one, is around 1600 years old. The twists and turns of their trunks and limbs, no two trees alike, tell a story of hard scrabble survival. We (my wife and I) are fascinated by them.
