Are Epson Ultrachrome K3 inks being discontinued?

I have checked a few websites and noticed that they are out of stock of the 110 ml cartridges that I use for my Epson 7800.  Many sites still have the 220ml cartridges.  I am wondering if Epson is discontinuing one, or both sizes?

My 7800 still works fine and I don't really want to buy a new printer.  If these inks are going to be discontinued does anyone have suggestions and experience with 3-rd party inks or other alternatives such as refilling used Epson ink cartridges (that won't lead to more than the 'typical' clogging, or ruin my printer ! ?)

It's the chip shortage, most likely, I had difficulty in getting a few inks for my P800 recently, and that was blamed on the chip thing, by a consensus on the internet, which, we all know, is always right. They may be prioritizing for more recent ink sets, who knows.

Thanks much for your reply and contacting inside Epson sources !  I can most likely wait out a chip shortage, and purchase the 220ml  cartridges.

Dragging up an old thread.  Andrew, any update from your sources on this?  B&H now shows two P800 inks (VLM and MK) as discontinued.
