I use a Canon iPF 6400 to print on uncoated papers (configuring the paper type with the Media Configuration Tool). In order to increase the quality I increase the scan wait time to 3 or 5s. I observed that this increases the amount of ink consumption by a huge factor (5 to 7 times more ink consumption for 5s for instance, compared to same print with no wait time). I don't think that it is a wrong computation problem since the Canons count the number of droplets fired by noozles one can assume that the consumption is computed from that.

Everything happens as if the noozles continues to fire during the waiting time between the passes. I did not observed that on my X880 Epsons.

Did I do anything wrong ? Is there a way to reduce this consumption ?

Thanks

Philippe
