Purchased a like new S80600 Epson at local auction
« on: April 21, 2022, 07:12:13 pm »

The deals are out there you just have to find them. Have been wanting one of these for years for our canvas business. Hoping we can now skip the spray topcoat our bottleneck for the past 10 years. I also got 80 new ink carts at the same auction. Paid a whole lot more then I wanted to but think I will get my money back. There is 80 700 ml carts. That is crazy, 56,000 ml of ink. Hope to sell about half to recoup some of my investment. Anyone have the 40, 60 or 80 model and need some ink give me a shout. I am going to try large canvas wholesale printing to see if I can create a market. First things first, have to get it here without rolling it off the truck. Auction is only 40 miles from my house. I buy at quite a few plant closings but really lucked out here. A little back story. This company from Allentown,Pa was struggling to turn a regular profit selling store and custom design fixtures. In 2015 they were on The Profit tv show. Marcus Lemonis comes in looks at the company and makes suggestions. They invested money in the company and suggested they invest in all new equipment to streamline their operation. The rest is history, bankrupt in 5 years. Looks like all that new equipment may have helped killed them. (For example who needs $14,000 worth of ink on the shelf.) Sad story.
Need to make some room, like new HP z3200 for sale. Used about once a month as a backup. Great for someone wanting a 44” printer with spectro at a low price point.

The only thing that put me off about the S80 was Epson deciding go with Orange & Red (both in the color region); instead of Orange 'or' Red and Blue/Violet or Green

Other than that, It's a pretty perfect machine. And as good as it gets, for what you want to do.

Now the good part, paid $3250. The potential bad part it has not been used for 3 or 4 months which if needing heads and dampers could go $6000. Still would be ahead of the game at around $10k all in. Fingers crossed.
