Z3100 Gloss Enhancer
« on: April 10, 2022, 05:51:23 pm »

Is there anyway to print on the HP Z3100 and not use the gloss enhancer?  I hate to buy another cartridge but never use this enhancer and wish I could just bypass it all together.  It has expired and keeping the printer from printing.  Thanks

I am getting a message now that says "Ink Cartridge Faulty".  It went from 41ml to 1ml in an instant.  Not sure what is going on but just hate to put money into a cartridge I do not use.  Any help is appreciated.

it is the cheapest 'ink'

Put one in ( second hand?/ half empty)  and you can do another 10 years...
There are always things that are useless but wast some money in a machine, but less obvious as this  one...
good luck...
you are to far away for me or i could send you some

ciao PK

8 of my inks are expired and all I have to do to bypass is hit ok several times. You have the enhancer off in print settings?

Replace your Gloss Enhancer cart with the cheapest genuine HP C9459A on eBay. Expiration dates mean nothing for these inks.  This may or may not be applicable to the Z1200: in my Z3200 there's a submenu option to turn off that ink channel, although your paper profile will bypass that and turn it on anyway if it's a glossy finish.  Since I started only using matte finish I haven't run out of Gloss Enhancer, and I print several miles of 24" roll stock annually.

Thanks everyone for the input and offers to assist.
I do have it off.  I think somehow the chip in this cartridge has gotten corrupted since it now says "faulty".  Looks like my only recourse is to buy another.  It is only $75 but nonetheless frustrating.

The GE has a tendency to gel if not used for long periods of time. Not only in the cartridge but also the ink supply tubes. I'd say print once and a while with GE on whole print to keep it usable.
