Distant Castles
« on: March 11, 2022, 01:14:44 am »

One I took from my skis last month. The pointy mountain is known as The Castles.

Wonderful and the "castles" mountain is a great plus (and it really looks like an old castle).

Nice pristine snow and shadows.

Thanks. I might overdo shots of that kind of thing but I just can't get enough when conditions are right. :)

Thank you. The Castles are a great source of imagery and very popular with local photographers.
Here's a more direct look from the East. (the distant shot is looking from the North)

Enjoyed both. In the one image I wonder if there was another composition or two in the snow itself with those curves shadow lines.

Just as beautiful. The Castles look better than some real medieval castle ruins!

Thank you Rajan. There are like a million compositions in all directions! I just needed to be very calculated about it to keep the snow pristine where I needed it. I took a lot of images that day and I want to try and get back for more before the snow is gone or ugly. I've been going back through them recently which is how I rediscovered this Castles one. I'd be out there right now if I wasn't home with covid (thankfully a mild case).

Not sure of you saw this one in the trees thread but this (or a variation of this composition) was probably the best of the day. It was immediately a good seller. Just sold another 20x30 canvas of it yesterday, in fact.

And the trees-and-shadows one is superb, too.

Great compositional use of those foreground shadows Matt and as said below, the rocky outcrop/castle, is the 'extra' compositional icing on the cake.

Nice work
