Getting a camera level?

My eye works better than a bubble level getting it to within 1-2 degrees, maybe less.

I have measured it.  That's how I know my eye is accurate to 1-2 degrees.  Spending years shooting 35mm slides teaches you to level the camera properly, quickly, and naturally.  Maybe you ought to try it.

Here's a SOOC where I left the rebate so you can see it's pretty level despite I shot it at night with a strobe about 40 feet underwater wearing scuba gear with currents moving you around.  Not so easy to get things level in those circumstances. Most photographers learn to do this innately.

The few I measured in pictures I took were  1 to 2 degrees off.  Since I couldn't measure every picture I ever took, I allowed that some could be different.  Hence the "maybe". The point is I can't get a bubble to do any better consistently.  MY digital camera has a built-in level so on a tripod I could spend the time to do better.  But I usually don't bother as my eye is good enough especially if I'm shooting by hand. YMMV.
