What a wonderful set of hues, especially in the second photo.

This magical light just kisses the top of the rock formation. It really looks like a volcano!

Thank you, gentlemen.

Wow.
Single shot or stacked ?

These were all single exposures taken from a helicopter. No bracketing or stacking.

Pieter,

Kirkjufell became a pilgrimage location for the Instagram crowd after it was featured in Game of Thrones (I believe it was called "Arrowhead Mountain" in the episodes).

This is pretty awesome. All of your light series are excellent but this involves a more active planning role that goes beyond interpreting what's in front of you.

Paulo and Armand - thank you.

Armand - there was no planning at all (in terms of the composition). For several weeks in November/December we were thwarted either by the wind or low cloud cover (my helicopter pilot won't take off unless it is 100% safe to fly). Any time there was a brief window of opportunity we had to take it. Impossible to predict what you'll get in Iceland and this particular scene just happened as we were preparing to fly across the fjord from Snæfellsnes to the Westfjords.
