That's essentially what I do when I want to embed an image in a forum post, for example the photo I included in the first post in this thread. I typically use a different vector to make a copy of what
flickr refers to as a "static" link—i.e., a pointer to a JPEG of specified dimensions that is available at a fixed URL rather than via a URL that needs to be dynamically dereferenced by explicitly connecting to the user's account—but the result is similar to what you get with the method you recommended. This type of link is intended to be used as part of a balanced pair of HTML
img tags.
For the follow-up, which I provided for users who wanted a clickable link, I used a URL that must be dereferenced through my
flickr account. But the LuLa forum software does not allow the display of images inline using that method.
