Also, nothing under Firefox 96 on Win7x64

message sent to Josh since this happens occasionally with Chris's and a couple others linked images.

I'm not sure what's going on here.  I used the forum facility for inserting an image inline, so as far as I know you shouldn't even be seeing a link.

Just use the “quote” option and you will have access to the link while in edit mode for a reply.

For anyone who wants a clickable link, a direct pointer to that image in my flickr account is available here.

(I have no connection with the Luminous Landscape forum except as an end-user, and consequently there is no practical way for me to diagnose any issue others may be experiencing with the visibility of the inline image I posted.  I've checked with different browsers on multiple platforms, and have not been able to replicate the reported problem.)

It should be simple, Chris. On Flickr, select these options (at whatever size you wish):

That's essentially what I do when I want to embed an image in a forum post, for example the photo I included in the first post in this thread.  I typically use a different vector to make a copy of what flickr refers to as a "static" link—i.e., a pointer to a JPEG of specified dimensions that is available at a fixed URL rather than via a URL that needs to be dynamically dereferenced by explicitly connecting to the user's account—but the result is similar to what you get with the method you recommended.  This type of link is intended to be used as part of a balanced pair of HTML img tags.

For the follow-up, which I provided for users who wanted a clickable link, I used a URL that must be dereferenced through my flickr account.  But the LuLa forum software does not allow the display of images inline using that method.

Not sure why all the complications you describe. Isn't it really simple to post a photo from Flickr? For example, here is one of my photographs that works well with your OP (but invisible) photo:

Yes.  I've done it many times.  I have no idea why some people have been unable to view the one I posted at the beginning of this thread.  I checked with several different browsers on several different platforms and they all displayed it fine.

Yes.  As I mentioned, I used a different vector on the flickr site than you did to get a (shorter) link to the "static" JPEG version of the pixel dimensions I selected.  Shouldn't be a problem: it's a valid, and verifiable, URL.
