Using Epson Cleaning Sheets on SC-P5000
« on: December 06, 2021, 12:03:50 pm »

My Epson P5000 is having difficulty feeding paper through the rear sheet feeder, and I think the feed rollers need cleaning. I have some Epson A4 cleaning sheets, but can't figure out a way to feed them through the printer (without printing). Can anyone suggest a way of doing this?
Thanks

Unless the 50000 is different to the 8000 you can index paper using the bottom "button" of the wheel on the control pad.  It indexes a few mm at a time I'd guess for each press, more if you press and hold.

Thanks, Mike

I use the "down" button on the control pad to initally load paper in the rear sheet feeder, ready for printing. However, if I then press this button again, the printer feeds the paper backwards, and I get a load error, and have to remove the paper.

I'm sure there must be some way of feeding a sheet through the printer without actually printing, but I can't figure it out!

What about printing a "white" image?

Yes, looks like they are very different beasts.

When I owned a Pro-4000 and Pro-4880 I always loaded sheet paper from the front rather than the back.  Might be worthwhile trying that (I don't recall if you could then nudge paper with the button) but it could be that the button only works for roll paper.

Printing a white file sounds like a good idea.

Thanks, Michael

I can send a "white" print to the printer, and this enables me to clean the right hand half of the rollers (the sheets are A4 in size), but I can't see a way to load the cleaning sheets to clean the rollers on the left side.

Using adhesive tape, I would stick the cleaning sheet onto a larger piece of paper (to the left side). Just make sure it can't get loose inside the printer :-)
