Shorten post-print time with ipf8400 and cut sheets?
« on: November 24, 2021, 02:25:05 pm »

Now that I've recommitted to my ipf8400 (was almost tempted away by a P900) there is one bothersome aspect to printing with it using cut sheets...

Is there any way to shorten the long, mysterious period after the printer has finished printing a cut sheet where it is still making all sorts of noises (but not printing), and the release handle is still locked?

I do a lot of test prints as I inch closer to a final print and that extra waiting period is a drag... :)

I almost never print cut sheet, but with rolls, it's the same. Rattle, click, whir, finishing...
I find that if I'm in a hurry, the printer will then decide to do a nozzlle check.

Only thing that seems to speed it up is if I turn on auto cut, which is fine for prionting cad plans, but not what I want with a decent print, and not even vaguely related to your use case.

It's writing the file info to its memory.

It's doing the canine thing of circling around three times before lying down in bed.
Or it's teasing you.
Or it's mechanically transcribing the info onto stone tablets; it doesn't sound like any hard-drive I'd ever want to have.
