Lightroom V1.0 visible on Amazon.com?

Back to the subject, shall we?

Amazon frequently offers for sale books that are not published, so nothing unusual about their offer of software. The price seems about right and so does the timeframe.

I was thinking that 200 to 225 or so, 250 at the most, would be reasonable. Lightroom is fabulous software. I can't wait to get going. (hesitant about using 4.1)

I think this may be an Amazon glitch - someone has got some prerelease information.

Hope the price is true though and I hope that they don't do the £ for $ thing in the UK like they dow with most things!!

That's not too awful on the price (student discount, YEEHA) for what it does.  I wonder if there's any chance of a bundle with CS3 though.

just an idea for mr point&shoot...if you would invest the time you are spending on hacking and cracking on ...actual work, you could simply buy the stuff...but i guess some people steal for the thrill of it....
i am not saying that i have never copied software or ripped a freinds CD...but sometimes the work necessary just isn't worth the time....

Dude, there's no "thrill" (other than saving $1100 on a software suite), and its effortless.  Download the program, run the keygen...done.  I'm not proud of the fact that I can't afford to spend that kind of coin on software...but on the same token I'm not ashamed that I scored a free copy.  Is it wrong?...yeah.  Do I care?...not really.

point-n-shoot

It seems a bit pointless to admit that you use 'hooky' software in this forum as some of the people who are major contributors of this forum actually write the stuff in the first place (or certainly have major influences in the industry).

The whole reason for me joining this forum was to help with what little knowledge I have, but mostly to get pretty much 'free consultancy' from what many consider to be some of the best in the business.

What was you reason for joining exactly other than to start a flame thread and get ignored by folk?

Seems a shame to me.

I always find it ironic the number of photogs who are so quick to score the free software and yet are so rabbid when it comes to defending their own copyright.  (P&S, that wasn't strictly for your benifit or anything, I was just thinking aloud)

I think $200 is a very good price point. Least we forget that the original Camera raw plug-in was $99.
[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=94186\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]

Yes, and I only used it for a year (maybe less) before I upgraded to a newer version of PS (and maybe a newer camera body too--I can't remember),------BUT--it was worth it for the purpose at the time.

$200 isn't bad for what it offers for those that can use all of it.  I do get a free version, but will probably still upgrade to CS3 and use it most of the time.  It depends upon what you want/need.  I use a number of plugins, actions, etc.---so PS after RAW conversion works better for me (plus I do have IMatch--and use other RCs also--but not as often these days since working with LR and now PS ACR).

Well, here's to hoping that your PC will be hijacked by the crackers' software, and that your internet access is shut down because of that.

Well, look at it this way...if it weren't for people like me, you honest, law-abiding folks would have no one to complain about.

One thing I am curious about is how Adobe is going to justify charging $200+ for software that they've essentially already given away. I mean, the final version is going to need significant added features over Beta 4 to justify the cost...right?

I wonder what they're holding back.

they haven't given away anything...they let the public use a beta version, which will expire....a smart move to get people hooked...
i think 200 is very fair...considering aperture was 500 when it was announced...and still sold copies....now it is 300?...the 200 is actually more then fair....hard to not buy it at that price...

Point and Shoot is obviously here strutting around his childish point of view in order to ruffle some feathers. Most kids go through some sort of phase like this. Most of us have gotten over it by the time we reach 25.

I have always admired the civil and intelligent tone of the Luminous Landscape forum. Let's choose to ignore the troll and hopefully he will just go away. Shall we?

Cute . . .

If you *ever* really need support or have a question here is my response in advance:

1) Open a command window
2) At the prompt type "diskpart.exe"
3) In the ensuing command window, type "clean"

hope this helps - John

Yes, I think that would be an excellent preventive maintenance measure for point-n-sh*t. He should do it right away.

February 19th????  That's cutting it a bit fine if you ask me - the beta runs out at the end of Feb!!  I heard it was due at the begining of next week...  but rumours are normally wrong.

As for $306 that seems ok but I will not be impressed if they just convert that same number into other foreign currency.

I will NOT be paying £300 for this software!   So I make this plea to Adobe...please please please don't rip off people outside of the US with inflated prices i.e.  The US version of CS2 is about $599 whilst the UK version is £500 (about $950).  UK taxes do not double the price so this is just plain wrong....

Sorry for the rant folks...I'm just concerned that Lightroom will end up being out of my budget just because I don't live in the US!

I suppose I could order it from B&H when it appears - even paying import tax I probaly will make a huge saving.
