Regrowth of Cypress Leaves
« on: October 27, 2021, 02:12:01 pm »

There's a story here:

These twigs, with their orange and green leaves (needles) are growing from a large cypress tree blown down by Hurricane Ida and now laying in ShellBank Bayou. Normally the orange leaves would turn a light brown and fall off the twig as winter dormancy approaches. However, because the cypress is uprooted the tree has gone into some kind of a survival mode and has created brand new leaves even tho it's late fall.

Trees are astonishing!

Quite amazing.
I just came back from a visit to a conservation area and noticed that many of the cedars had this wonderful combination of orange-brown with green. Very nice.
