Took me over a week to solve this. Multiple cables, multiple ports, multiple computer and camera re-boots, camera firmware re-flash, even multiple computers...Nothing would let my Nikon Z6II connect to Lightroom Classic for tethering, even though LR could see the camera and import images directly from it over USB.
Turns out, if your video section is set to record 4K, LR won't recognize the Nikon Z6 II for tethering.
I set my video to 1080P and LRC instantly recognized the camera and tethered capture works perfectly. Full screen live view, too.
Neither Nikon or Adobe mentioned this anywhere in their tethering instructions.
