New Fujifilm GFX 50S II Formally Announced
« on: September 02, 2021, 11:13:14 am »

We have some pages up on the just publicly announced Fujifilm GFX 50S II, the sequel to the original GFX 50S. This camera has been strongly rumored for some time. Times have certainly changed for medium format - when the GFX 50S was released in 2017, it retailed at $6,490. Just 4 years later, a new improved camera now at $3,999.

My quick thoughts are:

- I thought it might be a more viable upgrade option for GFX 50R and GFX 50S owners, but the lack of PDAF (even though the contrast detect AF is double the readout speed) and HD rather than 4K video are concerning. Still, the 6.5 stop IBIS works amazingly well, and neither of those cameras offer any IBIS at all.

- A great backup option for a GFX 100/100S user, and a viable upgrade for someone in full frame or APC-S territory.

- Super impressed with the performance, size/weight, and price of the 35-70 zoom. It weighs 1.9 ounces more than the 50mm pancake lens and seems to slightly outperform the 32-64 zoom. At $999 for the lens (or $500 when bought with the GFX 50S II), it's a no brainer purchase, IMO.

We had a prototype in studio for just a couple days, some impressions and need to know details are below in the links. We are not a huge conglomerate, we're a personal full service, specialized dealer focused on medium format products, please consider us as a healthy alternative to the standard mainstream add to cart options for purchase.
