Canon Inks at Inkjetmall (Cone Inks)

I see that John Cone is now selling pigment inks for Canon large format printers.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of these inks?

This, from any other manufacturer would be a bold statement. From Cone, a very interesting and welcome one.

An ultra black K /MK, along with dead neutral gy, I culd live with the hassles of reprofiling.

Because they alone of third party inks, have mastered the encapsulation process, I think they might be pretty long-lasting fade wise.

Which 3rd party inks are you referring to here?  Or do you mean with the 2000/4000/6000 inkset with the yellow?

I mean the issue with the OEM yellow.

That would be interesting indeed.  Right now they list their inkset only as a replacement for the previous series, which didn't have the issue with the yellow, so in reality there's already nothing (except a chip swap) stopping you from using the previous series OEM yellow in a PRO series machine either...

EDIT:  whoops, didn't click around.  They have replacements for the 1700 series as well.

For my current (and best) variable tone black and white inkset, I use Canon color inks to make a toner to pull the naturally warm carbon pigments to neutral.  See https://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/7800-Glossy-Carbon-Variable-Tone-2016.pdf at page 2 for the formula for my approach.  I concluded the Canon pigments were the most lightfast.  Also, they have a blue pigment that is the closest to a direct offset to the carbon warmth.  It still needs some cyan in the mix, but less so than if the traditional M and C are used.  The ideal carbon warm offset would be a single pigment, but there does not appear to be one that is suitable for inkjet use.  (Smith's indanthrone blue is the right color, but not an inkjet pigment.)

I am interested in the new canon offerings, as I am close to needing a bunch of inks for the ipf 8400.
Has there been any longevity testing?
I do sell some of my prints- and I can not have them fading away.
I use aftermarket inks in a canon pro-10.  I use it for test prints and throw aways.  They look great- color match well.
Pretty bad fade in bad environments in 2 years.
Different inks to be sure, but raises my concerns.
Using oem inks I can sleep at night, but my wallet is not happy.
Any thoughts?

I have a 6400 and 8300 and have used outdated OEM inks in them for years without any problems. They can usually be picked up on eBay for much less than the new retail price.

Neomark, a Taiwan based ink manufacturer had Cone in their list of distributors on older web pages. The company produces encapsulated pigment inks, like way more companies. Companies like DuPont, Ciba Geigy, FujiFilm, etc produce the pigment particles.

Piezography K7 inks were made in Taiwan some years ago. But Jon Cone claims they already move ink production to Vermont.
