CNN Olympic photos.
« on: August 07, 2021, 12:32:41 pm »

CNN has some "best Olympic photos" on their site, and they are amazing. A large percentage of them are really good. It's hard to imagine the hundreds of thousands of shots that were culled to make this collection. Equally interesting to imagine the technical aspects. Many had to be made with lenses as big your arm, at ultra high shutter speeds and thus equally high ISO, yet very noise free.

Compared to Olympic photos from decades past, the difference with modern digital technology is striking.

With digital technology, not that difficult. I say that as someone who shot the 84 games in LA, on film! Then two of us spent about 3 weeks, 40 hours a week doing nothing but editing (culling) the film two of us shot over the 16 days there. Just stamping the finals with a copyright stamp was painful.
NOT fun!  ;)
Fun shot from the opening using the Fuji 6x17 film camera (and of course, Velvia).
