P8000 issues, ghosting and other issues

Hoping someone here has seen this issue, or has an idea of how to fix it.

I have two P8000's, and they both print off the same computer. One is printing fine, the other - not so much.

The bad one is printing images with lots of stuttering or ghosting of edges.
AND - when I print the nozzle-check it comes out clear, but for half of the colours the patterns are slanted backwards (see attached image).

I thought this was a bad printhead, and replaced it, but nothing has changed.

Tried a new USB cable, no help.

Never seen a nozzle check like the 2nd one.  Why not update the FW as 1st step?

But your nozzle checks are NOT clear (neither of them). there should be no missing sections.  I've never printed with bad nozzle checks so I'd suggest cleans until both are 100% good on the current FW (mine is also NW027k3 etc, updated last year after a head change)

Post example of stuttered or ghosting edges?

I just got a second P8000 as well and agree your nozzle check should be perfect. Try the pairs clean on those two and see if gets any better.

This is bizarre! Don't worry about gaps in the nozzle check for now - they are not your primary problem, and will probably clear up with a cleaning or two.

I don't know enough to explain this fully/clearly but on the heads of these printers the ink lines come into the head in pairs. C and VM. K and LK. LLK and Y. LC and VLM. Looking at your pattern for the bad printer you can see that for each pair there is a channel that is correct, and one that slopes the wrong way. The nozzles that should be firing first are firing last, and vice versa, creating the inverted slope.

I can't tell why this has happened but, as a guess: it makes me think there's a wiring hookup that got switched within the head block. OR it could be corrupt firmware, so start there, as McBroomf suggested, and update the firmware.
