I think we in Ontario might have the COVID behind us?

After a few, few? months of lock down,... looked at where I was 3 years ago.

I think this was from the top of Sulphur Mountain, Banff Alberta, in any case I do miss so much going back again!

Lovely.

Brings back fond memories of the several fine trips my wife and I made to Banff and Yoho parks when we were younger. I couldn't do the hikes now, but that whole area is magnificent.

Not sure why you felt the composition was notable,... but with my humble creativity, the scene came out this way, not that I spent many moments?...  figuring  it out.

Perhaps it was what my feelings, at that moment, made me hit the camera shutter button.

yes, that is exactly what happened with my camera at hand. At the time I didn't know for sure why I needed to capture the image,... but do now.

But in terms of composition, does the fact that "my" eye views the image in a clock-wise motion and keeps ending towards the image centre, sets this image apart from just a random shot?

I can see how your eye could do that. But I suspect that was not conscious to you at the moment of shooting; rather, your eye told you "This is right."

And you trusted that unconscious message. Which is good.

If it feels right, it probably is.

Yes, the "magic" of the capture, transends the more formal techniques I've read in photography, but having said that, I press the shutter when it feels right,.. or just let the moment go, sometimes with regret.
