z3200 yellow ink cart not recognized
« on: July 09, 2021, 02:04:23 pm »

Don't use my z3200 very often as it is regulated to backup duty. Mid print it stopped and told me yellow is not recognized and to replace.
I reset printer and cartridge several times with no luck. The replacement is on the way but this one is 60% full. Any tricks I am missing?

Hey Dan. May I ask where you got the yellow ink cartridge? I recently had the same issue with a series of yellow ink cartridges all from the same place. To prove it wasn't any of my 3 z3200s I removed the cap from an old cartridge and switched it with the new. The cartridge worked just fine. From there I ordered more and made sure they came from a different batch. Those worked.

Dan:
I switch caps from my 120ml HP70 carts and put them on the 300ml HP772 all the time. You just can't keep track of the ink level though!

I agree that it is probably a faulty sensor which is in the cap at the end of the cartridge. You can cut the label and snap it off and replace it with one from an empty old yellow cartridge if you have one lying around.

It was an LD third party. Received the new HP70 yesterday and works perfectly. I have had this thing for about 3 years now with maybe 60 prints.
The printer has great output but is just too slow for a commercial shop. About half the speed of my Epson's.
