First a drought, now a flash-flood of Epson P900 printers!

For months they were on backorder. Then they trickled in but were out of stock quickly. No longer at 3x the price on Amazon and they even have them at normal prices though their supply a minute ago says "only 4 left..."

In any case, it seems like a good printer and it's fun to be able to print directly from my iPhone, even in bed ;-). So far with the "starter" inks, I've printed 80 full-frame prints (6x9 and 7x7) on 8x11 and still have a little bit of Gray and Light Gray ink left.

I upgrade my P800 to the P900. The image quality is incrementally better but the B&W is a lot better. I love the fact that the P900 is so much quieter, takes up less space, and prints faster. It's a great upgrade and highly recommended.

The downside of this upgrade is that the P900 ink cartridges hold less ink and cost about the same as those for the P800. I've only replaced two of the factory-supplied ink cartridges so far as I am a hobbyist and a low-volume printer.

In the U.S.:

Epson P900 - 10-color T46Y - UltraChrome PRO10 pigment based
     50 ml per cartridge - general price $40.99 - 0.82/ ml

Epson P800 - 9-color T850 - UltraChrome HD pigment based
     80 ml per cartridge - general price $58.00 - 0.73/ ml

and if you do both Photo Black and Matte Black printing, the costs are probably very close because of the P900 ink savings when switching.
