New NIK
« on: June 05, 2021, 06:18:49 pm »

Have any of you “upgraded” to the new NIK package from DXO. I did the last one and while it was ok, it was not earthshaking. Aside from a lot more presets (which I do not generally use) is there anything wlse worthwhile?

Thanks.

There's a full run down of what's been changed in DPReview's 'review' ; https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/dxo-nik-collection-4-review The comments on the review aren't exactly full of glowing enthusiasm.

From what I can see it's only of interest if you're a serious user of Silverefex.

I got the suite when free from Google, but still haven't seen anything worth paying to upgrade for.

Yes, and there are issues. See this thread -

I did get "version 4" and should have known better. Flaky company, DxO.
I had to manually remove all previous folders where the NIK modules were hiding and then reinstall v4.
Seems to work properly, but when I load SEP as a filter, the badge that appears as it is loading reads, "Silver Efex Pro 3" which is ridiculous.
Although I use SEP a bunch, most of the collection is CRAP and I wish I had stuck with the original Google version as posted by Rhossydd already.
